The Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) is the RGVMPO's 25 year long range transportation planning document that serves as a blueprint for the next 25 years. The document identifies the needs of the community, establishes priorities for funding those needs, and creates a course for meeting those needs.

The Rio Grande Valley MPO Transportation Policy Board adopted Resolution 2020-16 for the approval of the 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP).
